In a groundbreaking episode of SBS Special titled “War on Gangs,” I had the honor of appearing as a drug crime expert to discuss the complexities of the global drug trade and its intersection with organized crime. With over 18 years of experience as a maritime police officer, I shared insights into the operational strategies of transnational criminal organizations, the trafficking routes they exploit, and the challenges law enforcement faces in combating this evolving threat.
During the program, I highlighted the importance of international cooperation in dismantling these networks, drawing on my experience collaborating with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the U.S. Coast Guard. I also explored the socioeconomic factors that drive individuals toward gang involvement, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach combining enforcement and prevention.
This opportunity allowed me to shed light on the crucial role of maritime security in curbing drug trafficking and share the expertise Iโve gained in investigating and analyzing drug crimes. By addressing these issues, I aim to raise awareness and inspire innovative strategies to tackle the global drug epidemic.
